ISRAELI OCCUPIED GAZA - Hamas’ military wing has claimed that it killed an Israeli colonel in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday.
The Qassam Brigades said it detonated an anti-personnel device on Sunday at around 3pm, targeting 12 Israeli soldiers, killing at least one and severely wounding others.
A spokesperson for the Israel Defence Forces said in a statement Sunday: “The commander of the IDF (Israeli army) 401st Armored Brigade, Col Ehsan Daqsa, was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.
“Daqsa’s tank and another tank were hit by explosive devices during operations in Jabaliya.”
The Qassam Brigades said in a statement on Telegram that it had also conducted a series targeted strikes on IDF armed bulldozers known as Caterpillar D9 vehicles.
